The nose reshaping operation, known as rhinoplasty, is one of the most frequent aesthetic interventions. It improves the proportions and the aspect of the nose to be in harmony with the rest of the face. The surgical intervention can, likewise, correct breathing problems caused by a faulty nose structure.
With rhinoplasty, the width at the bridge or in the size can be modified, the nose size in relation to the facial balance, the nose profile in case of nose hump, the top of the nose if it is too large, too rounded, felt, wide or large nostrils, nasal asymmetry and deviation. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia. The incision can be hidden inside the nose, in which case we can talk about closed procedure or an incision can be done on the columella, the tissue portion which separates the nostrils, in this case were talking about open procedure.
The access for nose remodeling is ensured by the delicate rising of the soft tissues that cover the nose. In case a nasal structures enlargement is wanted, a cartilage graft from another area of the body is used, most frequent being the nasal septum, from the middle portion of the nose. In some situations, nose or costal cartilage can be used. The breath improvement in case of septum deviation is done through septoplasty, the inside of the nose projections being reduced.
At the end of the operation, the skin and the tissues are rearranged and the incisions are closed. After the surgical intervention, splints and internal tubes can be placed to protect the new shape of the nose. The edema withdraws in a few weeks. For the final result of the operated nose shape, it will be needed almost a year to pass.
